Ways to begin / Workshop and prototype
Customer workshop + prototype
A workshop together.
A prototype built for you.
Turn your idea into something your customers can try. We find a need worth solving together. Then I build a focused prototype for you to test.
We agree the scope and timing before you commit.
Online or onsite in AucklandYou on your own, or with your team.
Bring a customer in mindAn early idea is enough to begin.
Leave with a way to learnSomething tangible to put in front of people.
What’s included
From a hunch
to a need you can test.
We focus on one customer and one need worth solving. You leave the workshop able to say what that need is and where the experience breaks down today. Afterwards, I build a prototype so you can test it with the people it is for.
- 01 · Discover
Find the unmet need.
We work out together who your customer really is, and identify an unmet need worth solving. You leave able to state that need in a sentence.
- 02 · Map
See where it breaks down.
We map that need together as a journey map, so you can see where the experience fails your customer today and what would have to change.
- 03 · Develop
Get a prototype to try.
Afterwards I build you a prototype of your idea for solving that need, so there is something real to react to. We agree its format and delivery date together.
- 04 · Test
Find out if it holds up.
You get a short testing guide: who to try it with, what to ask and what to watch for. You test it with your own customers and see whether it holds up.
Small enough to learn from
Test the heart
of your idea.
The prototype focuses on one moment from the journey map — the point where solving the need would matter most. It could be a clickable product concept, a conversational demo or a simple working flow, depending on what we need to learn.
We agree what fits before you book. Production deployment, live business integrations, ongoing hosting and a full product build would be separate work, scoped and priced with you.
Is this for you?
You have a customer.
You want to understand them.
This is for founders, business owners and teams working out who their customer is and what they need. You don’t need a technical brief or a finished idea. Bring the customer you have in mind and what you know so far.
If you’ve started exploring with Martyn AI (opens in a new tab), bring the notes you choose to share. We can use them as a starting point.

What should I bring?
A customer in mind, a sense of what they are trying to do, and any examples or insights you already have. Bring the people on your team who talk to customers and can help decide what to test.
What happens after I request it?
I’ll reply personally to understand your idea, confirm that it fits and agree a time. We’ll confirm the prototype scope and delivery date, then arrange the invoice. Sending a request does not take payment or confirm a booking.
Will the prototype use real AI?
Where it helps us answer the question, it can. Sometimes a clickable or simulated experience is enough to test whether an idea is useful. We’ll agree the approach before we start.
Is customer research included?
The offer includes the workshop, the statement of unmet need, the journey map, the prototype and the testing guide. Recruiting participants and running the tests with your customers are for you to arrange. If you need help with that, we can discuss it separately.
What if I want to build it afterwards?
We can use what you learn to scope the next stage through Product Innovation. There’s no obligation to continue beyond this offer.
